Guillermo EA5MON, activate from 6 to 9 August from Columbretes islands that are the most unique archipelago Valencia and one of the largest small island spaces Mediterranean ecological interest.
They consist of a series of islands and reefs located 30 miles off the coast of Castellón, about 56 km, and assembled into 4 groups, to which they are named the largest of its islands: Illa Grossa, the Ferrera, the Foradada and Carallot. the much sought EU-069 ista Columbretes Island has the following references.
Resting on a fund located about 80 meters deep, the Columbretes represent the best example of our land volcanism, easily appreciated both by the materials that form, and its peculiar aspect. Stresses Illa Grossa, various craters formed by chains, and Carallot, which, with its 32 meters high above the sea, is the geological evidence of the remains of the central vent of a volcano.
The emerged part is Nature Reserve and is protected by the Department of Environment, Water, Urbanism and Housing since 1988. The marine reserve surrounding the archipelago is managed by the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs since 1990, currently covers an area of 5543 ha.
